AZIZ (costumes) Things have happened very fast for AZIZ. Graduated from the Arnhem School of the Arts, Holland’s leading fashion course in 1996. In May 1996 Aziz won the Grand Prix for the best ladies collection during the International Festival the Jeunes Stylistes in Hyerés, France. Less than two months later he showed his collection in the Louvre during the couture shows in Paris. Paco Rabanne himself, had chosen to present Aziz prior to his winning show. Aziz has taken many prizes in reception for his innovative design in clothing forms, among which the famous shirTrui. In September 1998 Aziz devised for the prestigious Absolut Vodka Fashion Calendar. In that same year he was invited to show his collection for the opening of the Designers Show of the London Fashion Week. During the Vienna Fashion Week Aziz showed his autumn/winter collection 1998/1999 in the Museum for Applied Arts in Vienna. Since July 1999 Aziz has given twice a year his own press show during the official Calendar of Prêt-a-Porter Mode Masculine in Paris, where he is also showing women’s clothing. In 2002, Gemeente Museum in The Hague showed an overview of Aziz designs from the period 1996 - 2002. Beside his designs for his men’s and women’s collection, Aziz also designs costumes for opera, theatre and dance performances. Particularly, in the last years Aziz has cooperated closely with visual and performance artists such as Marina Abramovic, Dansgroep Krisztina de Chatel, Leine/Roebana and Ibrahim Quraishi to name a few. Among which his creations have been in the Van Gogh Museum and most recently the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
